Louisburg has two kinds of roof. The older homes around the college and the downtown blocks carry steeper pitches, more valleys, and in places the original metal. The newer homes on the edge of town and along the county roads are mostly architectural shingle on simpler frames. The two get quoted differently, and the older ones take longer to inspect properly.
Outside town, tree cover is the recurring theme. Limbs that reach a roof abrade the shingles every windy day, and needles that sit in a valley hold water where it should be running off.
