Four things to do before we arrive

You do not need to fix anything. These just limit the damage while you wait.

  1. Move what is under the leak

Furniture, electronics, anything on the floor. Water spreads across a ceiling and comes down where you least expect.

  2. Put a bucket down and pierce a bulging ceiling

A sagging patch is holding water. A small hole in the middle drains it into your bucket in a controlled way. Left alone, the whole section comes down at once.

  3. Photograph everything

Inside and outside, before anything is moved or cleaned. Time-stamped photos are the strongest evidence in a claim.

  4. Stay off the roof

A wet roof in the dark is how people get badly hurt. Nothing up there is worth it, and we are already on the way.

When we get there

Stop the water first, work out the cause second

An emergency call is not a repair job. The first priority is stopping water getting into the building, and that usually means a tarp fitted properly over the affected slope, fastened so it survives the rest of the storm.

Once the water is stopped, we find out why. Sometimes it is obvious, a missing section of shingles or a tree limb through the deck. More often it is flashing, a failed boot around a pipe, or a valley that has been quietly letting water past for a while and finally gave up in heavy rain.

You get photographs of everything we find, whether you go ahead with the repair or not. If it turns into an insurance claim, that record is what your adjuster works from. Our insurance claims page covers how that process runs.

What counts as an emergency

When to call tonight rather than tomorrow

Active leak into the house

Water coming through a ceiling or running down a wall. Every hour it continues, it finds more insulation, more drywall and more of your wiring.

A tree or limb on the roof

Do not wait for daylight. The weight keeps working on the structure and the hole is open to whatever falls next.

Shingles gone after high wind

A bare patch of decking is a leak that has not happened yet. If the forecast has more rain in it, that is tonight's problem.

A ceiling that is sagging or bulging

That is standing water above your head. It is both a leak and a collapse risk, and it does not improve on its own.

Storm damage with a claim deadline

Insurers expect prompt reporting. Documenting the damage immediately protects the claim as much as it protects the house.

You are not sure how bad it is

Then call. Working that out is our job, and we would rather come out and find nothing than have you sit under a leak guessing.

Why the free visit is genuinely free

We would rather be there early than be there for a rebuild

There is no call-out charge and no assessment fee. Not as a promotion, but because a roof caught early is a repair and a roof caught late is a replacement plus ceilings, insulation and flooring.

If the answer is that you need one boot replaced and a bead of sealant, we will tell you that. If the roof is past saving, you will get photographs and a written report showing why, which is what an insurer wants to see.

We are GAF Certified, licensed and insured, family owned, and more than 150 households in the Triangle have left us a five star review.

Questions

Emergency roof repair questions

Do you really answer at night and on weekends?

Yes. Water does not wait for Monday, so the emergency line is answered outside office hours. Call (984) 224-7182 and you will get a person.

What does an emergency call cost?

The visit and the assessment are free. If we tarp the roof to stop water getting in, that is quoted before we start and often forms part of an insurance claim.

How fast can you get here?

Same day across Raleigh, Durham, Cary and the surrounding towns in most cases. Storm nights are the exception, because everybody calls at once and we work through by severity.

Will a tarp stop the leak completely?

It buys you time rather than fixing it. A properly fitted tarp keeps water out until the weather clears and a real repair can be done safely.

Should I call insurance first or you first?

Call us first. We document the damage with photographs while it is fresh, and that record is what your adjuster will want. Then we help you file.

What if the damage turns out to be minor?

We will tell you. Plenty of emergency calls end with a small repair and a homeowner who sleeps better. We would rather come out for nothing than have you wait.
