Metal shingles and stone coated steel
The look of shingle or slate with the life of metal. A good fit on a house where a standing seam profile would look out of place on the street.
Metal roof repair
Lifted panels, backed out fasteners, failed ridge sealant and leaks at penetrations. Most repairs take a half day and come with photos of the fix.
Metal roof installation over a sound deck
We inspect the decking before anything goes on. Soft wood gets replaced first, because a 50 year roof over a 5 year deck is a 5 year roof.
Storm and hail on metal
Metal shrugs off most hail that would end a shingle roof. When a storm does mark it, we document it for the claim like any other roof.
Porch, bay and accent roofs

A standing seam metal roof costs about twice what an architectural shingle roof costs on the same house. It then lasts 40 to 70 years against 20 to 25, holds up to hail and wind far better, and reflects summer heat instead of soaking it up.
That does not make it right for every house. A home you plan to sell in five years rarely earns the metal premium back. A home you plan to grow old in usually does, because you skip the second roof entirely.

How long does a metal roof last in North Carolina?
A standing seam metal roof lasts 40 to 70 years here, against 20 to 25 for asphalt shingles. The panels outlast the fasteners on screw down systems, which is why we favor standing seam with hidden clips for homes.
Is a metal roof louder in rain?
Not on a house with a solid roof deck and insulation under it, which is how we install them. The tin roof on a barn is loud because there is nothing under it but the barn.
Can you install a metal roof over existing shingles?
Sometimes, over a single layer in good condition, with furring strips and the right underlayment. We inspect the deck first. If the shingles are hiding soft decking, the shingles come off, because a metal roof is a long time to live with a mistake.
Do you do metal roof repair?
Yes. Backed out fasteners, failed sealant at ridges and penetrations, and panels lifted by wind are the common ones. Most metal roof repairs are a half day.
Does a metal roof help with insurance or energy bills?
Both, modestly. Reflective finishes cut summer cooling load, and several North Carolina insurers discount premiums for a Class 4 impact rated roof. Ask your carrier before you sign, and we will supply the product documentation they ask for.
