A gutter cleaning service that checks the roof edge too
Clearing the debris is the easy part. The value is in what we look at while we are up there.
Every downspout flushed
Water run through each downspout until it flows clear at the bottom. A blocked elbow is the most common cause of a gutter that overflows when it looks clean.
Roof edge and fascia checked
We photograph soft fascia, missing drip edge, loose hangers and the first course of shingles. You get the photos whether or not anything needs doing.
Hangers and pitch corrected
A gutter that holds water after cleaning is pitched wrong or has pulled away from the fascia. Small fixes are done on the spot.
Twice a year, or under pines, more
Spring and fall for most homes. We will tell you honestly if yours can go longer or needs guards.
Gutter guards if you want them
Quoted at the same visit. Guards cut the cleaning schedule right down under pines and oaks, and do very little elsewhere, so we only suggest them where they pay off.

A full gutter does not just overflow. It holds water against the fascia board and under the first course of shingles, and it does that for weeks at a time. By the time the paint bubbles, the wood behind it is usually soft.
That is why we treat gutter cleaning as part of roofing rather than a chore. Gutter cleaning starts at $325. The final price depends on the size of the house, the number of storeys and how much is in there, and we confirm it before we start rather than after.
How often should gutters be cleaned here?
Twice a year suits most Triangle homes, once after the spring pollen and oak drop and once after the leaves. Under loblolly pines it is more, because needles pack a gutter faster than leaves and then hold water against the fascia.
Do you clean the downspouts too?
Yes. A clean gutter with a blocked downspout is still a blocked gutter. We flush every downspout and check that water leaves the house at the bottom, not the top.
Will you tell me if the gutters or the roof edge are damaged?
Yes, with photos. A gutter cleaning service is the best look anyone gets at your roof edge all year. If the fascia is soft or the drip edge is missing, you will know before it is a leak, and our gutter repair and soffit and fascia pages cover what comes next.
Do you install gutter guards?
Yes. Gutter guard installation is quoted at the same visit if you want to cut the cleaning schedule down. They earn their keep under pines and do little under a clear sky.
